چکیده

We compute class groups of very general normal surfaces in P3 C containing an arbitrary base locus Z, thereby extending the classic Noether-Lefschetz theorem (when Z is empty). Our method is an adaptation of Griffiths and Harris’ degeneration proof, simplified by a cohomology and base change argument. We give some applications to computing Picard groups. Dedicated to Robin Hartshorne on his 70th birthday

Noether-Lefschetz divisors in the moduli of K3 surfaces are the loci corresponding to Picard rank at least 2. We relate the degrees of the Noether-Lefschetz divisors to the GromovWitten theory of 1-parameter families ofK3 surfaces. The reduced K3 theory and the Yau-Zaslow formula play an important role. We use results of Borcherds for O(2, 19) lattices and proven mirror transforms to determine ...

1 Semipositive Bundles and Brill - Noether Theory

We prove a Lefschetz hyperplane theorem for the determinantal loci of a morphism between two holomorphic vector bundles E and F over a complex manifold under the condition that E∗ ⊗ F is Griffiths k-positive. We apply this result to find some homotopy groups of the Brill-Noether loci for a generic curve.

A Noether-lefschetz Theorem and Applications

In this paper we generalize the classical Noether-Lefschetz Theorem (see [7], [5]) to arbitrary smooth projective threefolds. More specifically, we prove that given any smooth projective threefold X over complex numbers and a very ample line bundle L on X, there is an integer n0(X,L) such that if n ≥ n0(X,L) then the Noether-Lefschetz locus of the linear system H(X,L) is a countable union of pr...
